Step right up, get your taste of VR! Okay, that's probably a lie at this point, as there isn't an immersive experience, but I do have the first version of the tabernacle on the WIP section of the site, super basic right now, just the rough models and no texturing at this point, I was just so excited about getting it working that I had to share my happiness with everybody.
As you know from my previous blog post I'm using Blend4web to create WebGL models of the tabernacle and both of the temples. When finished you'll navigate through the models with the mouse and W,A,S,D much as you would in many games. There is a long way to go, as it looks like adding in the walking stuff requires actual coding, and at this point I don't know if I know the language or how to set it up, should probably check out some Youtube videos on the topic.
At the current stage nothing looks super good, and there aren't any interiors. I will be adding interiors and will be putting captions on the items. I also don't know how to set up the captions, but I'll figure that out. I plan on putting in the names, a short description, and maybe some Bible references that tell us about the item.
Things seemed to work just fine on my parents Windows 7 desktop that is a few years old and just has the integrated graphics, everything works fine on my Linux desktop with my GeForce GTX 660 Ti, but doesn't work on my laptop with Linux and a Geforece 310M. Tested on Chrome and Firefox, not sure if it will work on IE or not.
