Salvation page

So if you haven't looked at the salvation page it looks pretty bleh, and doesn't really give any useful information. I've tried re-writing it a few times, actually had, what I felt was a decent start when power went out and I lost everything.  I don't want to be changing that page a whole bunch if I can help it so I thought I'd start a topic here where we could discuss it.

My Idea for the Salvation Page:

Salvation might sound like a confusing concept,

  • saved from what?
  • Why do we need saving?
  • What are you talking about?
  • so many questions

The dictionary defines salvation as: a source or means of being saved from harm, ruin, or loss. When we talk about salvation here we're talking about eternal salvation, which might seem even more confusing. In a nutshell our sin separates us from God and damns us to an eternity in hell, where there is wailing and gnashing of teeth.

  • First we need to realize we are all sinners. (For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Romans 3:23)
  • Sin separates us from God. (For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23)
  • God loves us, and doesn't want us to perish. (For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. John 3:16-17)
  • Jesus is the only way to God. (Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:6)
  • Good works can't save us. (But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. Isaiah 64:6)

When Adam sinned in the garden of Eden he brought sin into the world, and since then everybody has been born with a sin nature, and has been separated from God because of that sin. Many religions teach that if you do enough "good" that you can somehow outweigh the bad and God will have to let you into heaven, however it doesn't work that way.  Our best "good deeds" are as filthy rags, we can't do good, this is why Jesus had to come and die for us. Jesus came to earth, lived a perfect life, and died a death that you and I deserve, because he was perfect and holy he was able to die in our place. He had no sins of his own to die for, so when he died he took our sins upon himself. He suffered and died for us, your sins, my sins, our sins, are what drove Jesus to the cross.
After three days Jesus rose from the dead, winning victory over death, and reconciling man to god. Jesus offers salvation to all, we just need to reach out in faith and believe that Jesus took our place, died our death, and bridged the gap between God and man.

     How to be saved?
We are all sinners, we all need to be saved, we need to accept the free gift that Jesus extends to us. A gift, if not received does no good to the intended recipient. Jesus died for your sins, He took your place on the cross, what will you do about it? Will you accept the salvation He extends to you, or will you reject His freely offered gift and go it your own.

  • list verses about how to be saved
  • bullet points are just so handy

     Is being a Christian easy?
At some point you'll probably hear somebody saying that life as a Christian should be easy, a walk in the park, or a bed of roses, this is a lie though. The Bible is very clear on this point.

  • More bullet points.
  • I love bullet points.
  • bullet points are cool.

    What now?
So you've accepted the gift of Salvation the Jesus extends out to us, no what? Should we expect everything to start going right for us? Should we expect temptations to do wrong to go away? Should our problems all disappear?

  • You will be hated for my name sake
  • there is a crown of life laid up for those that love me
  • etc

If you have any questions feel free to email us at prayer@thebibleanimated.com

I went ahead and added some more stuff. Hopefully within the next few days I'll be able to get everything cited and organized in the order I like and then will go ahead and put it on the salvation page.

Probably should set up all these emails at some point so people can email to them.

Email addresses have all been added and are being read locally, so people get your write on, err, something like that.

I also took the liberty to go ahead and update the salvation page. I added in more stuff that what was here, so I'd suggest you take a look at the live page and then come back here and let me know what you think. I have comments turned off on the page so you can't comment there. If you see anything you think should be changed, removed, or clarified let me know and we can work something out. :)
